![]() ![]() | Ten Course Units from RSHairdressingCourse Description: Pivot Point® International Hair/Nail Certificate Program The 1700 Clock Hour Pivot Point International Hairdressing/Nail program used by RSHairdressing consists of theoretical and practical instruction divided into individual units of learning. Within the 1700 Clock Hour Hairdressing/Nail program, you will be taught through the media of self and instructor-read theory, audiovisual presentation, lectures, demonstrations, practical hands-on experiences, as well as written and practical testing. For the purpose of this description, Clock Hours are assigned to each unit. However due to the individualized nature of our program, the set Clock Hours are minimum approximations only. Each unit represents approximately 125 Clock Hours except for Salon Prep 1, 2 and 3. They represent 300 Clock Hours each. Each individual student may require varying amount of instruction and practice to become proficient in each individual unit of learning. This is used as a guide only. The 10 Units of instruction are: Unit 1 Designers Approach to Hair Sculpture Ladies: learning to sculpt straight and curly hair, ethnic and Caucasian, using shears, texturizing tools and techniques, razor, and electric clippers. Taught with mannequins, hair pieces, wefts, and real models. Included also is Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals. Unit 2 Designers Approach to Texture Design: learning to create curl in straight hair and remove curl from existing curl patterns, the use of relaxers and reformation curls, chemistry of products used, including home-care maintenance for the client, biology of hair, and liquid styling tools. Advanced curl formation techniques. Included also is Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals. Unit 3 Designers Approach to Hair Design: learning to mould, scale, and set hair with rollers, pin curls, finger waves, air forming and iron curling, and straightening techniques. Also pressing and curling the hair using hair design principles based on principles needed for contemporary designing. Back-combing, back-brushing, and comb-out techniques for today’s looks. . Included also is Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals. Unit 4 Salon Prep 1: learning to apply what has been taught in sculpting, texture, and design on the live model in the college training clinic. A continuation of Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals theory training. Retailing, business survival skills, and practical applications for contemporary designs. Unit 5 Designers Approach to Colour Design: learning to work with temporary colour, semi-permanent and permanent hair colouring agents, as well as lightening the hair and using colour correcting and designing techniques, including foils. Taught using the international colour level system ranging from darkest brown to lightest blonde. This leads to the understanding of depositing and lifting abilities of colour products. Included also is Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals. Unit 6 Salon Prep 2: learning to apply what has been taught in sculpting, texture, colour, and design on the live model in the college training clinic. A continuation of Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals theory training. Retailing, business survival skills, time management skills, interpersonal skills, salon software training, and practical applications for contemporary designs. Unit 7 Designers Approach to Hair Sculpture Men: learning to sculpt straight and curly hair, ethnic and Caucasian, using shears, texturizing tools and techniques, razor and electric clippers on men. Taught with mannequins, hair pieces, wefts, and real models. Included also is Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals. Unit 8 Designers Approach to Long Hair Design: learning to apply braids, chignons, rolls, twists for classic and contemporary designs using an extra long mannequin, hair pieces, and wefts. Included also is Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals. Unit 9 Salon Prep 3: learning to apply what has been taught in sculpting, texture, hair design, colour and long hair design, manicures and artificial nails on the live models both male and female in the college training clinic. A continuation of Pivot Point Salon/Nail Fundamentals theory training. Retailing, business survival skills, time management skills, posture, interpersonal skills, reception skills and practical applications for contemporary designs. Unit 10 Salon Evaluation/Final prep (Final Testing): applying what has been taught in Hair Design, Hair Sculpture (Male and Female), Texture, Hair Colour, and Long Hair Design through reviews and practical evaluations in the college clinic environment. Completion of all Clock Hours. Complete written and practical testing required. Specific emphasis placed on any areas of weakness discovered in Salon Prep 3 or through the RSHairdressing Progress Reviews. Also includes preparation for BC Beauty Council examination. | |
